Solar 4G CCTV for Nilgiris Estates, Farms and Resorts
Where there is no power line and no broadband, the camera has to carry its own supply and its own network. We install solar-powered 4G CCTV across the Nilgiris for estates, farmhouses, resorts and bungalows.

Coverage in this district
We install and support at these locations and the surrounding areas:
Most of the Nilgiris does not have the two things a normal CCTV system assumes: a permanent power point at the camera position, and a network cable back to a recorder. A solar panel with a battery pack solves the first, and a 4G SIM with a local storage card solves the second.
The Nilgiris also has its own weather to plan for. During the monsoon there are stretches of three or four days with almost no direct sun, and heavy mist reduces what a camera can see at the far end of an estate road. The battery bank is sized for those no-sun days, the panel is mounted for the best exposure on the site rather than on the nearest wall, and the camera is chosen for IR reach — with the honest note that mist will always shorten the usable range, so we cover the choke points instead of the whole boundary.
How the system is put together
- ·Solar panel with a charge controller and a battery bank sized for consecutive no-sun days.
- ·4G SIM router or a 4G camera, depending on how many cameras share the location and the signal available.
- ·Local storage card in the camera so recording continues when the mobile network drops.
- ·Motion alerts to your phone, useful for estate boundaries and outbuildings.
- ·PTZ where one camera must cover a wide area such as a resort driveway or a factory yard.
- ·Weatherproof enclosures and properly glanded cable entries — an open joint fails in the first monsoon.
Estates, resorts and bungalows need different coverage
- ·Tea and coffee estates: boundary and approach-road monitoring, factory yard, store and weighbridge points.
- ·Farmhouses and bungalows used occasionally: entry gate, main door and outbuilding coverage with motion alerts.
- ·Resorts and homestays: driveway, parking and public areas — deliberately not guest rooms, corridors or bathrooms.
- ·Staff quarters and labour lines: gate and common-area coverage for safety rather than surveillance of individuals.
4G data and privacy
A 4G camera consumes data mainly when you watch it live or download recorded clips. We help you pick a SIM plan that matches how often you will actually check the footage, and set motion alerts so you are not watching an empty gate all night.
Frequently asked questions
There is no electricity at my estate gate. Can a camera still work?+
Yes. A solar panel with a charge controller and a battery bank powers the camera and the 4G router. We size the battery for consecutive no-sun days, which matters during the Nilgiris monsoon, and mount the panel for the best exposure at that specific position.
What happens when the mobile network drops or the weather is bad?+
The camera records to a local storage card, so footage is not lost while the network is down — you can retrieve it when connectivity returns or on site. Motion alerts are delayed rather than lost. Heavy mist does shorten the usable range of any camera, so we cover the choke points first and tell you honestly what a camera will and will not see.
Can you install CCTV in a resort without covering guest rooms?+
Yes, and we recommend it. We cover the driveway, parking, reception, kitchen and public areas, and deliberately leave guest rooms, corridors and bathrooms out of the layout to respect guest privacy.
How many cameras can one solar setup support?+
It depends on the panel and battery size and on how many cameras run continuously. Small setups at a gate or outbuilding usually run one or two cameras per panel, while a resort or estate office with several cameras gets a larger panel and battery bank. We size this at the site survey.
